4Stephen Robert Paulson

Memorial services for Stephen R. Paulson, 39, 4206 Karen Road, Deming, will be at 2 PM Saturday, February 21, 1987, at the Acme Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. David Loper officiating.

He disappeared while scuba diving February 9, 1987.  His body was not recovered.

Mr. Paulson was born September 27, 1947, in Bellingham. He and his wife, Judy, were married August 23, 1970. 

He was a dairy farmer and an active member of the Acme Presbyterian Church.

Surviving in addition to his wife are two sons, Robert and Mark Paulson, and a daughter, Charlotte Paulson, all of the family home; his parents, Robert and Lillian Paulson of Van Zandt; a sister, Kathleen Kuipers of Curlew, WA; two brothers, Albert Paulson of New Jersey and Ole Paulson of Van Zandt.

Memorials may be made to Mt. Baker Planned Parenthood or Acme Presbyterian Church.

Robert (Bob) Mellick passed away November 15, 2004 at home in Centralia, WA.

He was born October 19, 1946 in Tacoma, WA.  He graduated from Mount Baker High School in Deming, WA in 1965.

Robert R. Dale, of Bellingham, passed away on Sunday, December 12, 2004. He was born on September 6, 1947, in Seattle, WA, to James and Bernice Dale.

Classmates remember Bob as easy-going, and with a ready smile for everyone.

Anchorage resident Eileen Shirl Jones Troll, 54, died Aug. 3, 2001, at her Anchorage home as a result of heart problems.

Visitation was at Evergreen Memorial Chapel, Eighth Avenue and E Street. A graveside service followed at Anchorage Memorial Park Cemetery.

Mrs. Troll was born Dec. 23, 1946, in Bellingham, Wash. She had earned her teaching certification in Bellingham. She moved to Alaska on Dec. 31, 1999.

Mrs. Troll is survived by her husband, Rod Troll of Anchorage; mother, June Alma Gallagher of Bellingham; and father, Shirley Walter Jones of Bellingham.

4Stanley Joseph Basart (Class '64): 
    1948 - 04/08/02
Stan Basart passed away in his home on Monday, April 8, 2002, following an extended illness.  He had A. L. S (Lou Gehrig's disease.  Stan was 57.

Born in Flasher, North Dakota in 1948 to parents Rose Harsche and Delbert Basart, Stan is the oldest of four children.  Stan attended 1st grade at Deming, then returned to North Dakota.  He lived with his "second family", Tony and Wanda Harsche and their children for the 7th and 8th grades on the family ranch in Shields, North Dakota before returning to Deming, WA, where he completed grades 9-12, graduating from Mt. Baker High School in 1964.  He has been a long-time resident of Whatcom County, living first in Deming and then Ferndale.

Stan is survived by his wife, Patti Basart.  They were married in 1982 and have resided in Ferndale for the past twenty years.  Stan's family include three children and their spouses, Troy and Laura Basart, of Bellingham and grandchildren, Cameron and Kyle Basart; Travis and Julie Basart of Deming and Grandchildren Rick, Laura, and Brandon Basart; and Tara and Jason Flake of Bellingham and grandchild, Makenzie Flake.  CLICK:  Continued..., then click (.jpeg image) to enlarge press release.
4Ronald L. Ridenhour (Class of '65):

Ronald L. Ridenhour of 4838 Deming Road, Deming, died Monday, Feb.22, 1993, of Lou Gehrig's disease. He was 46.
He was born Dec. 8, 1946, in Bellingham to Robert and Georgina Ridenhour.  A veteran of the Vietnam War, Mr. Ridenhour served during the Tet Offensive in 1968. He worked as a log scaler for 23 years.  Mr. Ridenhour was a member of George Baldridge American Legion Post No. 43, in Sedro Woolley.  An outdoorsman, he loved hunting, fishing and golf.

Survivors include his wife Laura of the family home; son Bradley Ridenhour of Deming; daughter Brenda Biles of Ferndale; step-daughter Cherie Hollifield of Ferndale; his parents; sister Kathy Neil of Mount Vernon; and brothers Robert Clark of Preston and Ray Clark of Mill Creek.

4Jerald L. Brooks (Class '65):

Services for truck driver Jerald Lee Brooks, 44, was held at St. Peter's Chruch in Deming with the Rev. James Williams officiating. Burial -- Kendall Cemetery.
Mr. Brooks, of 6310 Mt. Baker Highway, Deming, died Friday at a neighbor's home after suffering a heart attack.  He was born Feb. 15, 1946, in Bellingham to William H. and Nina Brooks.

A lifetime resident of Whatcom Count;y, he went to Nooksack Valley and Mount Baker high schools.  A Vietnam veteran, he was discharged around 1968.  He married Doreen Hamilton on Dec. 12, 1969, in Bellingham. He worked as a truck driver, but loved to draw, and especially enjoyed drawing children.  He also liked photography and wrote poetry. He was a member of the Nugent's Corner Fire Department and a first-aid instructor. Survivors include his wife, Doreen, of the family home; his daughters, Nicki Groen of Lynden and Wendy Brooks of Deming; his brothers, Marion Brooks of Bellingham and Merle Brooks of Stevens Pass; his sisters, Jean Head of Bellingham and Linda Garton of Seattle; and numerous nieces and nephews.

4Larry L. Duling, Jr. (Class '65)

Larry L. Duling passed away June 25, 2003 at his Bellingham home. A Funeral Service was  held 1:00 pm Tuesday, July 1, 2003 in the King Mountain Church, 300 E. Kellogg Road, Bellingham, followed by burial in Greenacres Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Gideon Bible Society, c/o King Mountain Church or the American Cancer Society.
4Virginia (Ginger) Zender - Sauve (Class of '65)
    1947-March 1997

Virginia (Ginger) Zender Sauve, 49, died March 19, 1997 in Palo Alto, California of acute leukemia.

Ginger was born in Bellingham and graduated from Mt. Baker High School in 1965. She attended
Seattle University and earned a degree in Nursing in 1969. Although she worked as a nurse for over 20 years, Ginger received most of her fulfillment from music and reaching out to other people. She was an accomplished musician, performing both liturgical and contemporary music in the Seattle area. She touched numerous people in her life through her active volunteer work and her daily, cheerful interactions with everyone she encountered. She is survived by her husband, Steve Sauve of Palo Alto, California; a son, Bryan of Seattle; a daughter, Kristen of Portland, Maine; her parents, Dick and Betty Zender of Deming; and two brothers, Dan Zender of Bellingham and Steve Zender of Chewelah, Washington. Services were held at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 15236 21st S.W., Burien, Washington, on Monday, March 24, 1997 at 11:00 a.m., and at St. Peter's Catholic Church, 6206 Mt. Baker Highway, in Kendall, on Tuesday, March 25, 1997 at 7pm.
4Cynthia Ann Rathjen-Ostberg (Class '63): 
    10/30/45 - 07/29/05
After a courageous battle with cancer, our beloved sister and friend, Cynthia Ann Ostberg, went home to her Lord on July 29th, 2005. Cindy was born in Bellingham, WA, on October 30th, 1945, to Carl and Christy Rathjen and was a lifetime resident of Whatcom County.

Cindy graduated from Mount Baker High School in 1963 and worked for Georgia Pacific paper mill until she married Victor Ostberg in 1968. She spent two years in Washington, DC, while Vic was in the military. She and Vic adopted their daughter, Amy, from Korea in 1974 after spending four years as foster parents to teenage girls in the early 1970's. From this experience they have a special daughter, Julie Degnin, who Cindy has loved since Julie spent time in their home as a teenager. They owned and operated Vic's Custom Cabinets at their home for many years.
Cindy loved her family dearly and organized an extended Rathjen Family Reunion every July at the Deming Log Show grounds since 1977. She has many close friends and was a 25-year member of the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority.

4Ron Moore (Class '63):

Ron Moore of Bellingham, WA, left his earthly home and entered Heaven on December 29, 2004, after suffering a massive heart attack on December 20, 2004.

He was born in Bellingham on April 18, 1945, attended Mt. Baker schools, and served in the U.S. Marine Corps. He married Diane Hammer in 1964.

Ron was predeceased by his parents, Tom and Esther Moore, and nephews Kevin Monaghan and Troy Moore.

He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Diane; daughter Marti and her husband Garth, grandchildren Jessica, Cody and Kelsey Kneer; son Tyler, grandchildren Kyle, Alan, Amanda, and Scott Moore; daughter-in-law Kathy and her husband Brian, grandson Gabe Morris; parents-in-law Bill and Evelyn Hammer; brother Jim Moore and wife Penny; sister Beverly and husband Al Holdt; sister-in-law Linda and husband Ray Reamer; brother-in-law Greg and wife Kay Hammer; a large extended family and dear friends.

The family wishes to thank those who helped in our emergency, Ron's doctors and the staff at St. Joseph Hospital.

Her love for children was evident, having worked as an interpreter for the deaf at Sunnyland Elementary School for over 10 years. Many knew Mrs. Ostberg as a gentle, kind and loving person. It's impossible to determine how many lives she's touched in her lifetime. She was loved dearly and will be unquestionably missed.

Cindy is preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Christy Rathjen, nephews Christopher and Trevor Rathjen and Alex Johnsen, niece Aleceia Heggem, and great-great nephew Dayton Isaacson. She is survived by her husband, Victor, daughter Amy (husband, Tim) Wood and grandsons Dylan and Jesse of Louisiana. The third of 10 children, Cindy also leaves four brothers and their wives, Dennis and Shirley Rathjen, Rod and Yvonne Rathjen, Carl and Lynn Rathjen of Bellingham, and Steve and Mary Rathjen of Forks, WA; five sisters and their husbands, Christy and Rodger Bell, Letha and Rod Nelson and Marta and Ken Huff of Bellingham; Stephanie and John Johnsen and Carol and Mike Hopey who live in the Seattle area. Aunt Cindy will also be greatly missed by over 40 nieces and nephews, 19 great-nieces and nephews and 3 great-greatnephews along with cousins too numerous to count but too special to forget.

4DaLinda Duxbury - Stacey -  Bartley (Class '65):

Beloved mom, grandma, sister, and friend, age 60, passed away on June 12, 2008 in Bellingham  due to injuries suffered in an auto accident. . DaLinda graduated from Mt. Baker High School in 1965. She was a bartender at The Horseshoe Café, Wagon Wheel Tavern and the International Café' and Motel. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters Grace Moyer and Helen Coleman and brother, Gale Gustufsen.She was a lifetime resident of Whatcom County born on July 19, 1947, to Lloyd and Bertha Duxbury. Dee was preceded in death by both her parents and two sisters. Dee is survived by her four daughters. Tami (Todd) Johnson of Lacey, WA and their children Joshua and Jessica, Angi (Joe) Hicks and their children Sean, Shane, Shaeffer, and Sheldon all of Blaine, Shelli (Jack) Wood and their children Riley, MacKenzi, and Brady all of Nooksack, and Sandra Stacey and Bob Whitehead and their children, Kyle, Darrell, and Dallas all of Blaine, great-grand daughters Emma and Eden, sister Della Ashley of Stanwood, numerous friends and TAZ her loyal companion. Dee touched many lives and will forever remain in our hearts. We Love you Mom!

A Memorial service will be held 11:00 A. M, Monday, June 23, 2008 at Christ the King Church 4173 Meridian Street, Bellingham, WA.
