Remarks: Married to Jim Gould thirty-eight years.
We went to King Cove, AK for a visit and never left. We have two "mostly well-adjusted" adult children with paying jobs.
I've been involved in community activities; city planning commission, school board etc. for sixteen (+) years, and also been working side-by-side Jim in the family business.
I love to travel abroad and the U.S.A.; Belize, Costa Rica, Mexico, Hawaii, Lopez Island. I also take care of mom, plus enjoy spending time with family and friends, reading, and learning as well as interacting with the environment... gardening, hiking, boating, fishing, snorkeling and scuba diving.
Coming to Alaska? Look us up! Catch the ferry from Homer. It's a great place!!

Remarks: Born 1948 in Goslar Germany, sailed into NY Harbor in December 1951 on Cunnard Line’s Queen Elizabeth. We lived in New Jersey for just over two years as we had relatives nearby but my parents did not like the huge congestion, flat country, and humidity and looked for a place with “mountains” more like what they were used to in Germany. They wrote to the Chamber of Commerce in Bellingham, liked what they saw, bought a 41 Nash and small two wheel trailer, loaded up 7 kids, a pregnant cat, personal belongings, two army tents, installed a compass in the car and headed West. We arrived in Whatcom County in April of 1954. We got a lot of help from the good people of Whatcom County and settled on the old Raper Homestead on East Kelly Rd where we lived for 7 years during which time the 8th child was born. We all attended the Old Harmony grade school on Everson Goshen Rd and later Mt. Baker Jr. Sr. High. In 1965 my father bought 10 acres on Hillard Rd near Deming and we began building our own Home from mostly recycled materials. We moved into the new home in 1961, the same year Anne and I were beginning Jr. High. After Graduation I attended WWSC for three years and then left school as I needed a break. In the summers while going to grade school I worked in the berry fields (hated that), haying for local farmers, then in Jr. High worked on Jerry Marr’s mink ranch, and later went to work in the woods for Gale Culver as choker setter, powder monkey, right of way cutter, and occasional cat skinner. I also worked a couple of summers for Department of Natural Resources on their fire crew. During College I worked weekends at the Mt. Baker Ski area and when I quit school was offered a full time job there. I worked there for about 1 year, during which I married my first wife, Tina. My first child, Anika, was born in 1971. In the succeeding years I worked at Stevens Pass Ski Area, then did Chair Lift Construction around the Northwest. In time I realized that I should probably finish my schooling so I returned to WWSC where my major was Industrial Technology, with minors in business and math. After college I went to work for Pederson Brothers Welding where I worked for 14 years before starting my own metal fabrication shop. My son, Reiner was born in 1980 and now is an employee of our shop. I divorced in 1985 and married Linda in 1998. My mother sold the home place to Gary Sirguy in 1973 when all the kids were out of the house and I had the good fortune to buy it back in 1985 and have lived there ever since. Time flies, now my daughter is married and I am the proud grandfather of 3 wonderful grand children. When I look back at it, it has been an incredible journey and I can clearly see God’s amazing grace at work all the way along. God Bless you all and I’m looking forward to seeing each of you at the reunion... Klaus n Linda Klix

Remarks: I've been with involved in the current medical practice for about four and one-half years; local individual practice association. I tried the solo private practice approach and it just doesn't work for me. This practice started as an access clinic for Oregon Health Plan patients and remains about the only practice accepting new patients in town. We've expanded such that we're also taking private patients, however, my patient load remains largely welfare.
My marital status is SINGLE and reasonably well adapted. I have three kids; Jeremy, Dorena and Jessica living in Anchorage, Roseburg and Grants Pass. There's also four grankids; Sierra, Arielle, Dylan and Caitlin.
I returned to the Pacific Northwest out of residency, and was initially placed in rural health care through the National Health Services Corp. In 1983 I moved to the Roseburg area where I've remained except for a couple brief sorties as a locum tenens ("rent a doc"). Looking forward to seeing all who show for the reunion.

Remarks: Update as of August, 2009
I retired from the university two years ago in August, 2007. The day after my last day of work we flew to Copenhagen and enjoyed 25 days of Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Finland and a one day trip from Helinski to Tallin, Estonia. In 2008 we traveled to Northern Italy, spending most of our time in Florence, Verona, Milan and Venice. Side trips to the family condo in Kauai and visiting friends and family in Arizona and California take us away from the cold and snow. Currently we are planning a trip to Wales and Scotland in September, 2009 and back to Italy with friends in 2010.
I am enjoying the freedom of no meetings, schedules, agendas and deadlines. I appreciate all of the good people and students I worked with through the 35 years in public education.
Education was my career: both ensuring others have a good education and educating myself and my family. I was a high school speech and English teacher and debate coach, a university professor and last a university administrator.
My husband of 33 years, Robert Beath, retired from 35 years as a public school teacher, administrator, and culminated his career as an assistant superintendent for an educational service district.
Our son Joel is very happily married with two sons. They live 15 minutes away from us in Yakima. We could have never planned it so perfectly.
I never would have guessed that I would end up living in central Washington. I have grown to love the warm sunny days, the abundance of fresh fruit, vegetables, and good wine available in the Yakima Valley. I drive everyday to Ellensburg and see the beauty of the hills covered with sage brush with the light playing off of the rounded hills. It is not like the hills surrounding the beautiful Nooksack river, but I have come to appreciate the blue skies and changing seasons. I also appreciate the lack of traffic!
My last title was associate vice president for undergraduate studies at Central Washington University, and I reported to the senior vice president for academic affairs. My responsibilities included academic program review, accreditation, assessment, general education, programs at the university centers, internal and external curriculum reporting, and I had several units reporting to me including the university's math and writing centers (which I created), the William O. Douglas Honors College, academic advising, student support services, and the office of testing and assessment. I served on several state-wide committees and was called upon to testify for legislative hearings concerning higher education.
One of the high points of my career occurred when the university sponsored my attendance and I was selected for a four week workshop for women in higher education administration at Bryn Mawr College. I loved the East Coast and the environment on one of the "sister" institutions.
Although life is very busy, we travel as much as possible. In the past two years we have spent time in Washington D.C., Chicago (the Art Institute is one of the top 10 art museums in the world), San Francisco, Sedona, Palm Springs, Kauai, HI, and three weeks ago we returned from a two week vacation in France visiting Paris (Louve and Musee D'Orsay), Nice and Lyon.
So, I must say life is good. I have and still do, work hard, enjoy my family, care deeply about certain issues, and take time to play.
I have often thought about the education I received at Mount Baker. In some ways it was excellent, in others, it was not. I am thankful that my mother and father always supported me and made it clear to me that a woman could do whatever she wanted to do in this world: that an education was a priceless thing that could never be taken away and would open doors unlike any other.
So, to my friends from long-ago, I look forward to seeing you in August, and sharing stories and memories from 40 years ago.

Remarks: After graduating from WWSC, I taught elementary school for a year in Richmond, BC. My husband and I married in '69. We moved to Canada in 1970 and have lived there ever since. In 1972 we moved a bit further east to Abbotsford, BC and I substitute taught at all levels in the school district. I was approached by the Principle at Mission Senior Secondary and offered a job teaching commercial courses and BC Geography. I'm sure you all remember being taught a lot about BC geography at MBHS - not! For the commercial courses, I relied on everything Mrs. Glenovich taught me and I put myself through a crash course in BC history and geography. (Learn it the night before and teach it the next day.) I taught there for six years and really enjoyed it. While teaching, my husband and I started a business manufacturing canoes.
Subsequently, I retired from teaching and put my full effort into the business and our first son who was born in 1981. Some of you may have heard of Clipper Canoes -- that's us. We built our own manufacturing facility and opened a large paddling store for canoes and kayaks in 1989.
In 1983 along came son #2 and as if we weren't already busy enough, we started another business in partnership with my husbands high school chemistry teacher and his wife -- The Lone Jack Saloon in Sumas. I was a bartender at night and ended up serving liquor to guys who were my students a few years earlier. "Mrs. Bayes could I please have another pitcher of beer." Lots of fun. We soon became the largest gaming establishment in the State of Washington with our Pull Tab bar. Nothing good lasts forever. After 911 business in Sumas dwindled, large casinos sprang up so we closed the Lone Jack in 2002.
When I turned 50 I figured I needed a new challenge so I took flying lessons at the Abbotsford Airport and received my pilots license. LOTS OF FUN!!!
In 2001 we moved into the hills behind Abbotsford and bought a log home on 15 acres. We have lots of deer in our front yard and the occasional black bear. I enjoy puttering in my greenhouse and canoeing and kayaking in the Northwest Territories, the Yukon and on the BC coast.
Looking forward to seeing you all.

Remarks: Larry and I have been married for 39 years. It has been a great life filled with many wonderful memories. All three of our children graduated from Mt Baker. We have six grandchildren, Kelcey 14; Nicholas 12; Kaitlyn 11; Alex 7 and Brooke and Bailey (twins) 5. All live in Whatcom County so I get to enjoy all that "grandma" time.
We have owned our construction company, Larry Brown Construction, Inc., for 27 years. Both of our sons work in the business. Toby is the on site superintendent and Chris, a graduate of the UW, is our estimator. I am the bookkeeper (thank goodness for Mrs. Glenovich) and I also continue to work part time at Puget Sound Energy in Bellingham. I have been at Puget for 28 years.
Our daughter, Julie, graduated from WWU and is a CPA. She works for Varner, Systsma & Herndon, Inc - a CPA firm in Bellingham. We use her quite frequently in the business for consultation and all those year end tax reports that only an accountant can relate to.
We like to travel anywhere, anytime. I especially love Disneyland and Disney World. We have been to both with our kids and grandkids several times. It keeps me young or at least young at heart. We are also art collectors. We have many pieces from Thomas Kinkaid, Randy VanBeek, from an artist we met while vacationing in Maui and from several artists we have met in Eastern Washington.
Not sure when we will retire. For now both of us enjoy what we are doing so will stay put.
Looking forward to seeing many of you at the reunion.

Remarks: I entered the Army during my senior year, did tours in Korea & Vietnam. Was married for 15 yrs and had 2 children. I now have a six year old daughter who lives with me, and I'm amazed at how much an adult can learn from a six year old!
I wish I could say I have lived a responsible lifestyle, but I can't. I spent 27 years in pro-rodeo, a couple years of sprint-car racing, worked on ranches in Wyoming and helicopter logging in Alaska. I've also driven trucks, and operated heavy equipment... these are just a few of the things that I wanted to try and did. Never seemed to be able to stay in one spot too long.
My grandson & son are involved in racing now, so my summers offer very little free time; and my reason I cannot attend the reunion this year, but hopefully next year.

We do some traveling in our motor home; Hawaii at least once a year, and Bob goes pheasant hunting at least twice a year in North Dakota with our son and friends that are father and son.
We still have too many dogs of our own but our son's wife is currently running R&R Kennels, along with our latest venture, storage units. We started with 40 units and may add more but we're thinking the amount we have is just right for now.
Our most exciting new thing is our grandson, Lincoln. He is 1 1/2 and learning and absorbing amazing new things every day. Needless to say, he is VERY cute and absolutely delightful. We love being grandparents and I get to baby sit a couple days a week.

Remarks: I have meandered so many different directions over the last forty years that, like the song says, I must be “Waiting for My Real Life to Begin”.
My AA in Theology was followed by a BA in English (that was the 60s). When I married a singer, I occasionally kicked myself for turning down Western’s music scholarship to go to Bible college but it all turned out in the long-run, because the musician I wed eventually became a pastor.
We traveled as entertainers for a decade (that was the 70s). I, who was never one much for school dances, found myself in glitzy outfits doing nightclub disco and floorshow's from one end of the country to the other.
Next we set up shop in the old 20th Century Fox Building in Seattle doing A/V productions for a decade (that was the 80s). I finally got to use my English credentials to write scripts for the productions while trying to keep up with two daughters and a son.
Funny thing how those years as entertainers came into play when churches began declining (that was the 90s). It turned out that our experience “on the road” was the “missing link” that could help congregations make their worship more relevant to the younger generations. We started a para-church ministry and, at the same time, I managed an international children’s choir.
Our kids grew up (well, at least moved out) and our son even landed a SAG role in a Kevin Bacon movie. We have no grandkids (yet).
For the past five years I have been clearing title for banks, escrow & mortgage companies by locating missing lenders and private beneficiaries who dropped out of sight without completing that little obligation. It is kind of like being a detective without having to dodge bullets.
I am looking forward to seeing you all at the reunion if my kids do not make good their threat to put me in a home before then!

Remarks: I'm a little late getting this written. It has been a very busy summer. My husband and I decided to paint our house, it took us almost a month. We decided we're getting to old to be climbing ladders.
We'll have been married 35 wonderful years in October. We have two grown daughters, Lori and Shana, and two teenage grandchildren (Lori's). We've always lived in the Bellingham area. But we love traveling in our fifth-wheel; mostly to Montana and Wyoming. We love the wide open spaces. We also enjoy the other western states, when we have the time to go further.
I've worked for the Meridian School District for 22 years as a pera-educator, at the primary level. Both my husband and I are looking forward to retiring in two years.
Unfortunately we will be in Montana the weekend of the reunion. So Happy Reunion to everyone! Sorry I won't be there.

Stepchildren (2): Ron Boyes, Jason Boyes
Grandchildren (2): Seven/One on the way.
Remarks: I lived in the Acme area until I moved to Monroe when I remarried in 1999. With a few years off to raise kids, my working career has been with Skagit State Bank. Hope to retire in about two years.
I have a total of seven wonderful grandchildren with number eight on the way. Ron and I enjoy golfing and our perfect vacation includes the ocean and golf courses with a few wineries thrown in!
My other passions are cross stitching and of course my garden; I love the flowers. I'm in a Childrens Hospital guild with friends that keeps me busy also.
So far my life has been great with of course a few of those glitches that make it even greater when you've worked through them! My marriage to Ron has been a wonderful thing. My family and friends keep my life full and happy.
Looking forward to seeing everyone this summer.

Remarks (Updated - 12/23/09): I graduated from University of Washington in Forest Management in 1971. I have been a forestry consultant since that time with projects throughout the western states. We have an office in Kirkland and handle all facets of forest management for clients, forest appraisal, forest mapping and arboriculture.
Margot and I were married in 2003. She is a medical massage therapist. Our blended family children are all successful and happy. Andy is a commercial loan V.P. for Bank of America in Los Angeles, Christina is a nurse in Atlanta, Jason is Promotions and Advertising Director for The Seattle Sonics and Nicolas has just finished college. We have one grand child, age 2.
Margot and I love to travel, including trips to Europe, Asia, Mexico and all about the Northwest and Alaska. We enjoy our summer place on Camano Island, travel and family.
